Two Indian cities, namely Delhi and Bengaluru have topped the Asia Pacific rankings in TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice awards for ‘Destinations on the Rise’. The cities have witnessed substantial improvements in positive feedback by the users of the world’s largest travel site. The development has come in terms of reviews and interest in the cities’ accommodation, restaurants and attractions.Delhi has acquired the seventh position in the global list, making it the only Asian city in the worldwide Top 10.“Our well-travelled community has helped us identify the destinations around the world that are gaining in interest and popularity. We hope these destinations inspire those planning their travel for 2016 to book trips to these locales that feature excellent hotels, restaurants and attractions, and also provide a great vacation value,” said Barbara Messing, Chief Marketing Officer for TripAdvisor.TripAdvisor describes Delhi as “a vibrant tapestry of historical relics, cultural display, satellite neighbourhoods and mega malls”. Bengaluru, according to the site, features “breathtaking locales that provide a relaxing respite from the bustling city centre” with the cities recording a 28% and 46% jump in booking interest, respectively.The Mexican resort of Tullum was named the world’s top ‘Destination on the Rise’, ahead of Cartagena in Colombia and the Portuguese city of Porto.
